Sad day for America

Today is a sad day for America.

Today our elected oficials failed us, the American people, the US Constitution, and all the men and women who have fought to keep this country free. The Senate voted to confirm George W. Bush's nominee, Judge Alito, to the US Supreme Court. This despite his overwhelming 15 year record of chosing corporate interest over the individual.

We are entering, if not already there, a era of Fascism, a system of government that is charecterized by centerilized control of private enterprises, repression of opposition, and extreme nationalism.

We, as individuals, will not have the means to stand up to Corporate America. Labor laws will take a back seat to profit. Homes and ecological habitats will be lost in the name of economic development. And this is just the begining. Alito holds the swing vote. He will sit passing judgement for the next 20-40 years. Be afraid. be VERY afraid. Posted by Picasa

It will take many years to undo the damage done to our country the past six years. Katrina and 9/11 are only minor mishaps, in comparison. This is one time when I am glad to be near the end of my life.
