The Fearsome Four

As many of you know my dogs mean the world to me. This past week it has been exceptionally difficult to leave them and head out to the venue which keeps them in kibble. Thus, I began examining why we (Me) treat our pets more and more as members of our family.

To me Rudy, Molly, Riley & soulful Sam are so much more than mere dogs. They are furry children.
Do I tend to humanize them? Absolutely.

Yet, I believe, I also understand they are canines and try to relate to them as such. Maybe it is because I accept them as the dogs they are, that leaving my motley pack every day is getting harder and harder. Perhaps it is because they have no hidden agenda, an agenda yes but not hidden, that I crave their company more and more.

I feel free and comfortable in their company because I can be who I am. No false smile, no patronizing gestures, no nodding and understanding clichés... just me.

But, they need their bones, their new beds, and their 40lb sack of Nutro Nuggets. And I need to provide them with these essentials. So after a day of putting on the façade I can retire to my pack and just be me.

By the way…Kurt is the top dog. (Not pictured here)
