Aviator
For the record Kurt & I are not moviegoers. We love movies but the idea of going to the Movie Theater really doesn't appeal to us. We would much rather buy a DVD and enjoy it in our own home. The exception to this is Star Wars, Spiderman and any interesting Superhero movie.
This weekend was no exception. I purchased The Aviator starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Rarely do I ever feel the need to review a flick, but in this case I really wanted to comment on the film and the main character Howard Hughes.
First let me begin by saying Leo NAILED the part of Howard Hughes. I BELIEVED he was Howard Hughes. He had the voice inflections, the neurosis, the walk, the energy...EVERYTHING. It was amazing. He should have won the Oscar. Kate Blanchett deserved hers. She was Kathryn Hepburn. It was a brilliant film.
Now, a few comments on Howard Hughes. He obviously was a genius, a visionary, and a nut. But what impressed me about him is his tenacity and his powerful personality. Even though he suffered serious mental illness he created an empire, revolutionized aviation, and stood up to corrupt senators.
Where are the Howard’s of our day?

Where are the men and women with visions? It seems we are all too willing to be complacent and watch our cable TV, eat our Big Macs and let someone else do it. We need to be inspired by H.H. We need to realize we have the ability to change things, to stand up to corrupt corporations and government.
Yes, Hughes had a plethora of money, but we have a voice.
Our Vote.
In '06 let's take back the Senate & the House and say we are done with these shenanigans. And will not put up with any more corruption.
