Sooo...let me understand

On august 8, 1974 Richard Nixon resigned as President of the United States due to allegations of illegal wire tapping.

Fast forward to December 2005.

President George Bush DEFENDS his position on illegal wire tapping. As quoted by in the Washington Post, "This is a different era, a different war," the president said at a year-end news conference in the East Room. "People are changing phone numbers and phone calls, and they're moving quick. And we've got to be able to detect and prevent. I keep saying that, but this . . . requires quick action."

I do not believe the bill of rights has changed. I believe the fourth amendment still stands.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

But apparently our President does not believe in our Bill of Rights. Or maybe he believes he above the law of the land. Either way he is wrong.

Regardless of WHICH party an elected official belongs to, spying on our citizens without proper due cause and official warrants is a violation of the Constitution of the United States of America. Should this be allowed to slide we are setting a very scary precedent.

Congress MUST act on this. This violation crosses party lines and is a threat to the fundamental core of American values. Not to mention it scares the HELL out of me.

Contact your Senator and Congressional Representative and DEMAND they take action.
