So much to Blog
Wow!
What a weekend.
Saturday the Canby AKC dog show.
Ahhh doggies!! I love doggies!!!
We left the house at an ungodly hour and yet still we encountered traffic. But we got to the dog show with little incident.
We saw Irish Wolfhounds. (Canines literally as big as a medium size horse) I love dogs but these ones are a bit much even for me.
We also encountered cocker spaniels, Papillion’s, Fox hounds, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Whippets, St. Bernard’s, Bull Mastiffs (My God they have big heads), and our favorite Rottweilers. (This is just a small sampling of breeds we encountered)
It was quite amusing to see the owners and dogs together. For instance the terriers owners seemed to be a bit high strung, where as the St. Bernard owners were fairly laid back. The Cocker owners were all dressed in business attire (quite prim & proper like their dogs) and then you had the bull mastiff owners. HAHAHA I will just leave it at that.
Rottwieler owners were an interesting mix. We met one couple who owns FARWEST Kennels and has seven rottys. See I am NOT the only insane person in the world. She specifically made the point of telling us, sheepishly of course, that they were not like other breeders. Their dogs live in the house much like ours.
After the show we made a quick stop at Costco. Ok, that is a lie. A Costco trip is NEVER quick. We needed another bed for the boys. We put one of their old ones in the new dog house so they might be more inclined to actually use the house. (They tore it up. I believe they thought since it was outside then it was a big plushy toy.)
Then we stopped and picked up Sireina. God it was good to see her. I love talking politics to her. She is so informative and has great points. Note to Sireina: Lets get together again SOON!!!
We arrived at the house with Sireina in tow. Kurt took off and we waited for Melissa & Jen to arrive. Eventually they did and off to Amboy we headed. (I Love my friends. They are all so unique and great fun to be with.)
Donna as always threw a great food feast and as always I ate too much. Donna's dad looked great and I loved seeing everyone. I guess it is time to have another game night.
By the time Saturday night arrived I was beat down to a bloody stump. I was completely bushed.
Sunday I awoke fairly refreshed and dreading church. Not because I don't like church quite the opposite. I Love going to St. James. But Yesterday was Fr. Paul’s last sermon. It was his final day and it was tearing me apart. We did go. And once again his sermon touched my heart as it has so many times before. He talked about hospitality. Not just being a good host at a party but seeing God in each and every one you encounter. It is always easy to invite your friends over but what about those you can't stand? Karl Rove? Tom Delay?
It is NEVER easy being a Christian.
Goodbye Fr. Paul. You were a great pastor and we know you will do many good things for the church and for God. Fr. Paul has been assigned to help new priest or those considering the priesthood. There really isn't a better choice.
Our new priest will be Fr. Damien. ... Damien???
You know they do get a CHOICE in choosing their new name. Did he NOT see the OMEN???
Oh well... such is life.
And now for Monday... will it ever end?

Yes, we do have to get together again VERY SOON. BTW, I AM coming to love my apt. more and more b/c I'm getting settled.
I'm so sorry about your priest. That is really depressing. Didn't you say "Damien" was German like Benedict XVI?
