Yes my weekend was FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!
It began Friday. I only have to work one Friday a month. Thus, I did not work this past Friday. HAHAHAHAHA, AAAHHH life is sweet. I took care of household stuff freeing Kurt & I up for a weekend of togetherness. (yes, I like spending time with Kurt!)
Saturday began with a very yummy breakfast: French toast, bacon, fresh eggs (from our chicken) & fruit. Though the grease did wreaks havoc on my bowels it was worth it.
After cleaning up from breakfast, Kurt & I hopped into the little yellow car & headed East toward Washington Wine country.
The day was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. The sun was shining, there was a perfect breeze and all was well in whoville.
The drive along the Gorge was phenomenal with the sun glistening off the Columbia. One could not ask for more perfect weather.
Our fist stop was at Bad Seed. Their specialty was hard cider. Mmmm... Good. We bought a shot glass.
Next stop was marshals Winery. This was located up an old dirt road. Upon approach it was kinda "interesting". Much like what I visualize our place would look like if we owned a winery. There was an old claw foot tub in the yard, and various other crap strewed around. It was reminiscent of things my father would do to a place.
Once inside we sidled up to the wine bar and began tasting. Usually wineries pour a wee bit into your glass, Ron, the owner, was not nearly so stingy. He started us off with a white that was ok. Then we began the reds.
OMG!!
These were AMAZING!! And as I said, Ron had a very generous pour. The Cabernet frac was fantastic as was the merlot & Barbera. That man can make wine. We purchased the Merlot, which had scored a 91, for $20.00. A killer deal.
Needless to say we thourghly enjoyed Marshall's Winery.
Next we stopped at Maryville. A HUGE winery. Very upscale. The complete opposite of marshals.
There we had the privilege of tasting two incredible wines. A Zin & a to die for Merlot. Both beyond yummy.
After this we drove and admired the beauty of the gorge. We discovered a great camp site we plan on utilizing in May.
The day was growing short so we began the trek back. We crossed over to the Oregon side and stopped for dinner in Hood Rive. Chinese. Again our taste buds were blessed.
We had a pleasant drive home stopping off at Best Buy and picking up
Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow. Thus, a perfect day was concluded with the perfect flick.
Sunday was spent puttering around the house, playing with the boys, and doing house stuff. It was a very relaxing day.
Today is Monday, back to work.
I work this Friday.
Bummer.
